Staphylococcus aureus MRSA 177 (No 16S rRNA gene available) is a member of the Firmicutes division of the domain bacteria and has been isolated from a soft tissue infection of the skin. Bacteria and source DNA were provided by Cesar A. Arias, MD, MSc, Ph.D. of the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Funded by the NIH.
