Selenomonas sputigena (GenBank Accession Number for 16S rDNA gene: NR_025115) is a member of the Firmicutes division of the domain bacteria and has been isolated from the oral cavity (gingival sulcus). The sequenced strain, ATCC 35185, was obtained from Sue Haake, UCLA.
