S. cerevisiae strain Y9 (NRRL y5997) was isolated from Ragi (African or finger millet) in Java, Indonesia, pre-1962. The strain is in the NRRL collection or the strain may be obtained from Dr. Justin Fay, Washington University School of Medicine.
