Blood Isolate

Abiotrophia defectiva (GenBank Accession Number for 16S rDNA gene: NR_025863) is a member of the Firmicutes division of the domain bacteria and has been isolated from the blood of a bacterial endocarditis patient. The sequenced strain was obtained from Floyd E. Dewhirst and Jacques Izard (ATCC# 49176).
