| Dr. Wendl is interested in the development and application of mathematical theory and computational methods at the interface of biology, physics, and engineering, especially for those problems that relate strongly to genomics and genetics. He has focused on a number of topics, including the fluid physics of low-Reynolds number flow devices used in biological lab work, probabilistic modeling of the shotgun DNA sequencing method, processing and analysis algorithms for shotgun data, and combinatorial approaches for solving bioinformatics problems in DNA mapping and shotgun sequencing. Wendl is also collaborating with other scientists at the School of Medicine to develop a large-scale analysis pipeline for medical sequencing data. |
