Group Leader of Production, Genome Sequencing Center
Research Accomplishments & Interests
I (MS, 1992, SIUE) joined the Washington University in June of 1992. During my time at the university I have been able to watch the sequencing project grow from a team of 7 individuals to well over 250 employees. Early in my career I worked as a technician in the production team and later as a finisher. In 1996, I became the leader of the library construction group and continued to serve as a resource for the production teams. In 1999, I was named the Assistant Group Leader for Production and in 2002 became the Group Leader for this group.

Under my direction, the production pipeline at the Genome Sequence Center now produces 7 million DNA sequence reads per month and 50 billion bases of DNA sequence annually. Sequencing efforts at the center now include whole genome shotgun production, clone-based efforts, mutational profiling and resequencing.

My current role at the center includes management of the GSC sequencing pipeline, project tracking, and monitoring costs associated with these activities. My interests include development, management and financing of systems designed for high-throughput DNA sequencing activities. I am interested in the development of vectors used for sequencing, the integration of new sequencing platforms and mutational profiling.
